Who are we?


The European Union of Women (EUW) is composed of women in public life and as well female members of European Parliament, National Parliament and Local Authorities drawn from the Christian Democratic, Conservative and other like-minded political parties or organizations in 17 countries.

Member countries are: Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The structure of the Union comprises of:
- Council
- Executive Committee


In addition, there are Commissions which relate to the following subjects:

Culture, Science and Education
Economics and Employment
Environment, Local Government, Regional Planning
Family and Social Affaires
Food and Agriculture
Health
Information and Mass Media
International Policy
Judicial
Refugees, migrants, Demography

Further:

Constitution Committee
Election Committee

The Council decides broad lines of policy. The Executive Committee is responsible for ensuring the implementation of these policies. The Executive Committee works together with the National sections and the Commissions and is in close contact with the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the United Nations.

The EUW has consultative status with the Council of Europe and is represented among the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) at the Council and the United Nations (ECOSOC).
